The Origins of Las Vegas Competitive Karaoke
How Karate Karaoke grew from an idea into a tradition that transformed karaoke into competition in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas competitive karaoke has its roots in 2006, when the idea of Karate Karaoke was first conceived. The name was chosen, but the dream couldn’t fully launch until December 30, 2007, when the belt system debuted and the first warriors began their journey through The Dojo.
At first, it took time for the community to catch on. But once the concept ignited, there was no turning back. Belting up became the goal, and the very first Black Belt was awarded to The Wedge — a milestone that set the stage for countless ceremonies to follow.
The movement only grew stronger with time. By 2011, Karate Karaoke expanded west with the launch of Karate Karaoke Los Angeles, proving the Dojo spirit couldn’t be contained within one city.
Still, the truest history of Karate Karaoke isn’t just in the dates or the milestones. It lives in the singers who step up, the crowds who cheer them on, and the unforgettable nights that continue to define Las Vegas competitive karaoke.
